fun fun fun!!
Oh gosh i had so much fun last night! Yup shouma invited me to an event which JASS (Japanese American student society) organised. Yeah yeah I know I’m joining clubs that have no relation to my nationality. Haha but you can’t blame me! There aint any Singaporean society here in davis and I’m lazy to set up one :P
Ok anyway, I asked jenny along as well so three of us set out to the ARC and waited for transport to the corn maze! Here transport to any place is not by a bus, but by CARS. Jackie, the president of JASS, was such an angel! She invited jenny and I to hitch a ride with her!! When we reached the corn maze, I immediately whipped out my camera and started taking countless pictures. Yup I was acting like a stereotyped asian tourist, happily snapping pictures away :)

Me and jenny!! She’s an aussie!! Her accent is really cool!! Haha she’s very pretty right??? A lot of guys keep hitting on her!!

jenny and shouma!! Oh yeah shouma is actually kane too!! Shouma is his jap name, kane is his Hawaiian name. haha this guy is so funny!! he kept hiding in the corn fields and pounced out everything I walked past!! I screamed my head off ok!!!

me asuka and jenny! Asuka is a 2nd generation ABJ ☺

jenny me and Jackie!! jackie’s the president of JASS. Haha though she’s the president, she can’t speak jap at all! She’s hella cool!!!
Anyway after trudging through the normal corn trail, we headed straight for the haunted trail! Basically, you walk through this corn trail and pple wearing really hideous masks will jump out and scare the living daylights out of you. I tell you arh. I was screaming my head off the whole time!!! the scarers creep up behind you and after you run they still keep following you!! i yelled and screamed and ran!!!! Haha while running away, I stomped on shouma’s foot 5 times, I accidentally pushed jenny down to the floor and nearly cut off asuka’s blood circulation in her arm!! It was uber scary!! But when we reached the end of the trail we actually took a pic with our scarer!!!

headed down to Sonic, which is like this fast food restaurant. The unique thing is their drive-in. they actually skate out and pass you your food. Haha reminds me of the flinstones!!! Ok. nvm.

The next day was homecoming football game at tooney field!! Me, alejandra and jen (dorm mates) rushed down to catch a glimpse of this American sport. Haha alejandra and jen, though they were raised here in the states, have never been to a football game. Unfotch, we woke up late and by the time we got to the field all the good seats were taken!!! Boos…
Oh well I got to stand at the sidelines and take some pics!!

Ok have to go and start on my anthro essay!! Next weekend I’m heading to Berkeley!!! Woohoo!!
in the midst of midterms
this is my third week of school. emphasis placed on two words, "THIRD WEEK", and i am burning midnight oil for my mid-terms. so to answer your question mr kane chin, yes i am very busy. i know it's very sian when you enter "http://whyyouareyou.blogspot.com to find that ms wong yuru has yet to post a new entry. just to let you know i haven't replied anyone's email :( and i'm updating this blog because i am so sick of trying to figure out what Genetic Drift means.
ok let's see. what did i do over the this weekend? oh yes! i went to my friend's friend birthday party. ok so in other words i don't even know who the birthday girls are....haha oh but at least i went with jenny! yeah both of us didn't know the birthday girls too, we just knew the good friend of these two girls! so the party was held in South Davis, which has a reputation of being a Party Party place. well i was afraid that this party was going to end up like another "get drunk and get dirty" party. but thankfully it was very PG friendly :) haha ok i boozed a little! the good thing about US parties is probably the free booze :) stella was an angel! she made us Sangria (red wine, sugar and some other ingredient) and some other drink that was really refreshing. you all should just come over and try all these drinks. i guarantee they are 1000000 times better than the shots you have at Zouk. ok so to prevent myself from getting a terrible hangover the next day, i hydrated myself with 2 bottles of water :) yeah too much alcohol aint good for the liver.
anyway the party was filled with lots of interesting pple! met this guy who hails from Guam! he is half jap, quarter portugese, quarter hawaiian. oh he has the most amusing name: KANE. AH HUH! i know mr chin you are thinking, "WHAT?! this guy has the same name as ME??!?!" but no no...his name is pronounced as KAR NEH. seriously. i didn't think that KAR NEH actually stood for anything but apparently it means "boy" in hawaiian. i learn a new thing everyday :) oh after we left the party, jenny asked me if i realised anything out of the blue in the party. i pondered over her question....hmmm aside from girls giving EACH other lap dances and lots of girls dressed very erm masculine, no i don't think there's anything strange.
Jenny: well, you do know that most of them were gay right?
Me: really meh?? wait. oh.....yah hor!!!
haha so yeah. the party was filled with bi-sexual pple :) and no, i didn't get hit on. thank you very much. sheesh.....
no wonder all the pple i talked to were such great conversationist! :)
okok i have to get back to my anthro assignment!! will churn out more entries soon!!!
my dorm room!
i had a good chat with ms felyna lee on sunday morning (singapore time!) and promised her to post some photos of my dorm room. haha i'm living in a single room. it's a little small but still a nice cosy space :)

these three pictures were taken the very day i moved to the dorm. i was wearing a blouse from Michael Kors, bought it at Vackerville Outlet Mall. in other words, it was a discounted item! :) ok veering back to the right track. you can see how messy my room was on the first day. i think i took 3 hours to unpack! after that, my mom and i headed to Target to buy more drawers and other stuff.

hurray today i finished my laundry, wiped my desk, swept the floor, ironed my clothes, studied, cycled to Rite Aid, hung out with friends, showered and DECIDED TO FINALLY TAKE PICTURES OF MY DORM :) i bought the nice comforter yesterday. it kept me really warm throughout the night! ok i hope you are good at visualising. the chest of drawers i placed between my door and bed. it is so wide that i can't open the door fully without whamming it into the drawers. my messy desk is located just right in front of my bed. it's very small :( oh well. oh oh!! my closet! as you can see, it is like a shoebox. i have filled up the whole metal rod with hangers! HELP!! and my sleeping quarters! on the wall i pasted felyna's and woon's presents! if you are physically here in my dorm, the tour of my room will be completed in 5 seconds. haha emphasising the puny space i'm living in!

oh!! i bought this vintage shirt from Target at USD$3.50(around S$6). i checked the label! it's the exact same brand of shirts that newurbanmale imports from USA, except that they are charging you S$49. haha yay!!! i get cute vintage tees for amazingly LOW prices!!! oh yeah! i wear those funky orange socks to sleep. keeps my toes from freezing!
ok i'll try to take pictures around my school. though it would be weird walking around with a camera in my hand. have to complete chemistry assignment. wouldn't want to fall behind my work!
i'm still swooning over my japan trip
i just came back from math lecture (i slept through half the lecture), nearly crashed into two innocent people, before making my way safely back into my room. after which i realised that my closet door has broken. thankfully, james dropped by and performed a miracle! haha he fixed my closet door in two minutes! hurray for him! after that, i switched on my Mac and waited patiently for ms choy siew woon to log in to Skype. while waiting, i browsed through my old pictures and i found the album i took during my trip to japan! yes yumin, including the photos i stole from you! haha i know this is a very very outdated entry, considering the fact that i went to japan in june! but nonetheless, it's a trip worth talking about! :)
Tokyo! we arrived in Roppongi, where lots of bars are located, mainly to attract the ang mohs. our room was SO nice! even though the front door was this heavy metal prison looking door, the interior was huge!

here's yuling posing with her tiny suitcase! this yuling is so "mafan". yumin and i had to do most of the dragging (her suitcase) while she skipped merrily in front of us. argh. ANYWAY...the first day was spent in DISNEYLAND. tokyo disneyland is extremely clean!! i seriously think you could sleep on the floor because there isn't any trash on it at all. the jap women are amazing. i knew i was going to do a lot of walking so i decided to sacrifice fashion for comfort, chose to wear my sneakers. i thought my footwear was going to blend in....little did i know ALL THE JAP WOMEN were walking around in stilettos. i'm not exaggerating here. they are amazing. everywhere they go, they will be strutting in their stilettos. i think that accounts for their slim figure :)

ok here are some goofy pictures we took at disneyland :) we visited minnie mouse's house (where i attempted to push my cousin nicky down the well :P) and took a lovely picture of mickey mouse's house. yes these disney characters have good furnishings in ther home. haha the final picture is very random. nicholas and yuling goofing out, i think they were just super high that day because they were in DISNEYLAND! who wouldn't be high?
the next day we went to mount fuji! took a really long bus ride up the mountain. we were SO bored we started photo-whoring again...haha yuling was sleeping like a pig while we took this picture!

the scenery was breathtaking! unfotch, i didn't take any picture then. haha i'm lazy.
the gastronomical part of the trip is coming! we took the Shinkansen to Kyoto! this bullet train travels at 350km/h! while we were waiting for our train, another one zoomed past us. being singaporean tourists, we screamed and jumped and attempted to take photos of this AMAZING sight. haha by the time i whisked out my camera, the train was gone. oh well. anyway kyoto was SO PRETTY!!! we stayed in this traditional japanese inn where we ate traditional japanese breakfast and dinner!! there was nice hot tub in our room. we even dressed in traditional robes to really immerse ourselves in their culture.everything was so "memoirs of a geisha" and the food was BAGUS!!!!! i shall entice you all with these well-taken pictures by yumin!

after we finished our trip around the "old" part of japan, it was time to head back to tokyo! we went to shinjuku (where i spent a bomb!!), harajuku and ginza. saw the huge Prada building. i was so estatic when i saw this building, it was like a shrine built in the honour of Prada! haha but i didn't dare walk inside the shop, so settled for a nice picture OUTSIDE the buildling.

well that wraps up my long outdated entry :) i really love this japan trip! i shall drag more friends to go with me next time! ok have to dash to my friend's housewarming party! haha her neighbours are going to bring their own gin, martini and tequilla.
