counting down!
in another 18 days, i'll be squashed into a small green seat and watch old movies until i arrive in singapore! i am SO psyched!!!i've been thinking about THE DAY ever since i realised that november was nearly over. ohoh i am going to wear my thick warm UGG boots onto the plane! haha i know i'll regret it when i step out of changi airport!! boots and the tropics don't make a loving couple.
just to let you know, it's awfully cold here in davis!! the temperature now is slightly above 0degrees Celsius and the wind here is uber strong. okok i know i shouldn't be complaining here...the east coast pple are probably dying to come over to californial to enjoy our "warm" weather. but seriously, cycling AGAINST the chilling wind is no laughing matter. i'm going to get frostbite soon. donate to Buy-a-Glove-for-Yuru fund! due to an intensive shopping spree on Black Friday, i no longer have any spare money to spend on clothes.

oh yeah! thanksgiving! haha the plus point about choosing to hang out with an asian family during thanksgiving is the FOOD!! i had vietnamese food for three days and i loved every meal!! soooooo good!! thanksgiving dinner was really interesting. the only american dishes were just the turkey and mashed potatoes. the remaining space on the dining table was taken up by various vietnemese food! BAGUS!! while munching on my food, cathy's aunts came up to me and bombarded me with questions about singapore. apparently their entire family stayed in singapore, specifically sembawang, for 3months. some refugee thing. anyway, they spoke really highly about singapore and her people :) haha it was really nice to talk about home once in a while. although....i don't understand why some of my friends here (especially my dorm pple) like to harp on the fact that the sale of gum is prohibited. "what no gum?? but how??" what do you mean how? no one needs to chew gum to survive right? haha oh yeah, i have problems answering this question, "so yooru, what do you speak in singapore?singaporenish??" hahahaha that question cracks me up everytime!!

oops i did it again!
oh gosh i just did the stupidest thing ever! i locked myself out of my room AGAIN!!!
so how did i accomplish such a feat. i grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste, opened the door and closed it. after which, i realised i left my keys inside! :( boos...thank goodness cathy was there to help me find the RA in charge to get my key back. when i signed the card to acknowledge that i received the copy key, i found out a very embarrassing thing.
number of times miss wong yuru has left her keys in the room...a GRAND TOTAL of 3 times. you only get 3 chances throughout the year, the 4th time onwards, you have to pay 40bucks just to get the copy key!!
the first time i locked myself out was the VERY FIRST DAY!!! i just stepped out to talk to my friend and this gush of wind closed my door! great. GREAT! i don't even remember how i locked myself out the second time. this is very frustrating. i have to put up an enormous sign on my wall, reminding me to bring my key out!!!
of birthday dinners and lazy days
"i'm so far down. away from the sun again!" haha i love that song (away from the sun) by 3 doors down :) yes woon, you are the brilliant person who sent me that song!! kudos to you! oh i finally ran away from the DC food on tuesday and friday night!! the menu is starting to repeat itself!! ARGH....
on tuesday night, we took the cab down to a really good italian restaurant, Cafe Italia, to celebrate apple's birthday!! haha ohoh i must add that i recommended the restaurant :) and apple liked the food in the end!! hurray!!!

the guy opposite me is tim!! he's this really funny korean boy!! haha he spent the entire dinner trying to teach me korean!! oh well i'm not a very good student..i forgot everything he taught me that night!! oops!!

friday night, cathy pansy keith and i went to davis noodle city to have good chinese food :) and after that.....was ben and jerry's dessert!! oh gosh the guy working at B&J is so cute!! ohoh when he scoops the ice cream, he'll toss it up in the air!! some cool acrobatic thing...haha i should just film him next time :) oooh ben and jerry's came out with a lot of new flavours!!! AAAHHH!!!

argh i don't understand why spiders bother spinning a web overnight when it will ultimately be destroyed in the morning by the wind! now everytime i cycle pass trees, i can feel my entire face being covered with cobwebs! eeeewww!!!
i met a really helpful math professor today! he gave me credit for a math course that i'm taking next quarter. i was so happy because i though i could finally drop a course and move on to a more advanced one! BUT....i realised that the schedule for the new advanced math course clashes with my chemistry lab!!! like wth. ARGH. i hate registering for classes.

rain, rain, go away
i finally wore the coat that woon and naifen bought for me!! haha all the girls in the dorm were swoooning over it! hahaha kudos to woon and naifen for having such good taste. ok wait, actually I picked out the coat!! i still remember naifen trying to convince me that coats in US are way cheaper (absolute rubbish!) so i wouldn't buy that Zara coat. anyway the weather is getting colder!!! unfotch, it would never snow here in California. maybe i should go Lake Tahoe in January to go skiing!! woohoo!! that will be so awesome!! :)
retail therapy
went to san fran again!! this time i crashed at jen's house with alejandra. oh gosh once we put down our luggage at jen's house, we headed down to powell street and took a bus to haight street and started our much needed retail therapy! bought a lovely coat from GAP for just USD30 at a used-clothes store! yes! there were some really nice stuff there! a lot of branded stuff which pple used to own, now sold at least 50% off its original price.
travelled back to downtown and shopped at forever 21!! this Forever 21 outlet is 3 storeys tall!!! the interior design is gorgeous but it's really messy inside! anyway we spent one whole hour there trying out clothes. i bought 3 funky tops!! hopped down to urban outfitters and got a vintage jacket! then we walked to Jillians' and had dinner there! ohoh the dessert was SO GOOD!!! yummy banana booze!! as soon as we got home, we changed into warmer jackets and drove to the theatres! argh, luck wasn't on our side, the movies were CLOSED! so we grabbed bubble tea, chips & salsa and went back to jen's place to watch Charlie's Angels!
the next day was spent SHOPPING again. haha what else could i do? i certainly didn't have time to go sight-seeing!!!! oh you know i did see quite a few homeless people on the roads. very sad :( i really wonder how they got themselves to that state. and then i wonder, where did singapore hide all our homeless people??? ok a little off topic. i'm totally wiped out now. till next time!

ooooh nothing beats leaving the dining commons in search for some REAL food! we decided to ditch dinner at the DC and head out downtown for some korean food!

i love how all the sushi rolls have such nice names! i tried the spider roll! it was HUGE!! i stuffed the sushi into my mouth with much difficulty....keith resorted to breaking the sushi into two...haha that's so lady-like!

by the time we finished dinner, it was only 9.30pm! uber early! pansy, eddie, stephen and i dashed down to the ARC to play badminton! yeah i'm going to play every night!! so i'll lose weight and not fall into the freshman 15 trap!!!!!! after the game, i went to hang out at apple's room!! haha soon her room become a gathering point of random pple: me, tim, rita, apple, jon, stephen, pansy and craig chilled at apple's room till 4am!!!! cindy came into the room halfway and i asked her SO many questions about sororities and fratenities!
cindy is currently pledging for her sorority and apparently it's really some tough work to join a sorority! they call it, Greek life. basically the first two weeks of school, you attend the RUSH events (i.e. showing up for events hosted by the sorority you are interested in)...and then you get interviewed by 50 girls (depending on the size of ur sorority)...they will decided whether they want you. if they do, you are invited to more events!! then comes the PLEDGING process...haha which is (according to dear cindy) really some tough shit. ok so you will CROSS OVER at the end of the quarter and become an official sorority sister :) it's hella complicated...but apparently the benefits outweigh all the crap you went through during pledging...
that's just the tip of the iceberg of this entire Greek life thing. haha i learn a new thing everyday! :) maybe i'll rush for a sorority next spring...hmmmmm....wonder if this sorority/fratenity system would thrive in singapore unis.
ok have to start on my work! woke up horribly late today!!!
gloomy day
it's 1.40pm here and it's raining cats and dogs! the sky is very dark and gloomy :( oooh i just bought this gorgeous red jacket from Zara in san fran and it's keeping me warm for now. to naifen and woon: i'm going to unveil ur coat soon!! right after the rainy week stops, i'm pulling out that fabulous coat from its bag (yes, it is still in that zara bag!!) oh gosh i'll try to put up pictures of my nice winter clothes!! this stupid rain is ruining everything!
argh my bicycle seat is probably soaked in rain water...i'll have to walk to chemistry lab later, wearing my sneakers! i have to get boots uber soon! next friday is going to be a holiday for me!! it's called Veteran's day, to honour all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in some war...can't remember which one though. we are driving down to san fran to shop more!!! wohoo!! to all forever 21 lovers: there is a 3-storey forever 21 shop in san fran! :) oh which reminds me....ms jo lam and i saw this drop dead gorgeous male model posing in front of the abercombie & fitch shop!! his rippling muscles were displayed for our lusty eyes to feast on!! :P ARGH if only we took a picture with him!! i know a picture speaks 1000000000000 words!!!
